Ever since the hot dog made its debut in America in the 1800s, this working class meal in a sausage packaging has been a hit. The same is true for The Dog House, which has been a hit in and around Durham since 1970, when the first Dog House opened in Durham. Now this small local chain has five locations in Durham and one in Hillsborough.
But what makes the dogs at The Dog House so amazing? It's the toppings!
Few people actually eat a hot dog plain. Toppings are very important when it come to chowing down on a hot dog — or two!
Every topping is made with the freshest of ingredients. And the chili?
Well, the chili is made with a secret family recipe using only 100 percent beef and spices. There are no beans and no fillers.
If you thought all hot dogs were created equal, then think again. The dogs at The Dog House are definitely superior and after just one bite, you'll agree!
But hot dogs aren't the only thing you'll find at The Dog House.
You can also fill up on BBQ and Brunswick stew.
