There are only a few Amish communities in the Tar Heel State, and this general store is located right in the heart of one of them. Updated in the last two years to include a huge expansion, Shiloh General Store has all of the essentials (including a deli) to make for a fun and eclectic day trip into North Carolina's Amish country.
Shiloh General Store is an Amish country store found a mere two miles from Interstate 77 just north of Union Grove.
It was recently updated and enlarged from an older, smaller building, and now includes much more space — and many more handmade Amish goods. You'll find everything from baked goods to handmade wooden furniture, and more.
From the moment you walk into the store, the sweet smell of freshly baking bread is an obvious clue there's a bakery. Nearby are shelves and shelves of freshly baked loaves you can carry home to share with the family.
This charming Amish store also has a deli where you can pick up an affordable and delicious lunch combo (a made-to-order sandwich coupled with a bag of chips) and then...
... sit on the amazing front porch and devour the goodness. The porch is quite large and faces a huge horse pasture across the street. The scenery and the shady porch provide a perfectly peaceful spot to sit and enjoy lunch.
Don't be surprised to see a local riding by on the road out front; horse-drawn carriages and wagons are very common here.
Most of the items you'll find in the store are locally made, and those that aren't are procured from other Amish sources. You'll be amazed by the selection and large variety of Amish goods for sale.
We love the simplicity of the packaged goods. A cooler here displays fresh Pimento Cheese and other perishable goods made either here or at nearby sources.
You can even find a cookbook the store published ("Shiloh's Favorites") and then gather up all of the ingredients you'll need for a signature recipe!
From freshly baked goods to homemade fudge, raw honey, Amish furniture, and Amish handmade quilts (and a lot more!), you'll find it all here at this huge Amish country store.

Shiloh General Store is located at 5520 St Paul Church Rd., Hamptonville, NC 27020. It's a mere 60 minutes north of Charlotte, 40 minutes west of Winston-Salem, and 60 minutes east of Boone.
