The Tar River offers a little-known fishing spot in North Carolina. This body of water begins as a freshwater stream near Roxboro in the Piedmont and heads southeast for about 195 miles to Washington, NC where it uniquely changes names. Once it flows under the U.S. Highway 17 bridge between Greenville and Little Washington, as we call it, the Tar becomes the saltier Pamlico River where it merges into Pamlico Sound. While the Tar River is no secret to anglers, not everyone knows about the success some are having at River Park North in Greenville.
