If you're looking for the quintessential Western North Carolina flea market experience, then head six miles southwest of Murphy to a roadside attraction that's booming with activity. Decker's Flea Market is both charming and just far enough off-the-beaten path to be its own destination.
Decker's Flea Market in Murphy is not only brimming with merchandise, but it's also incredibly unique. This is the good stuff; the type of place where you can find things never knew you needed.
Decker's opened in 1977. And, each endearing corner of the property has character. The old, red barn look gives it a curb appeal that can easily make anyone do a u-turn to go check out what's hiding in this roadside attraction.
Visitors love the whole Decker's experience. From the nostalgia of browsing items from days gone by to picking up fresh produce, perusing brand-new items, and even scarfing down some roadside eats while they're here.
If you have a truck, it's probably a good idea to bring it. Just make sure it has plenty of open space. There's a good chance you'll find a gargantuan item you can't live without. There are oodles and oodles of buildings to check out. Additionally, there are lots of booths (both indoor and out) to peruse, so plan to spend a few hours at the very least.
You'll also want to wear cozy, comfortable walking shoes! There is a lot of territory to cover in the many buildings and sheds at Decker's.
Come prepared to check out some local artisan creations, too. Visitors love the huge variety of handcrafted goods found here. You won't leave empty-handed, that's for sure.
When you get hungry, check out the many food options. From vendors who are selling baked goods and more, to a few food stands in the building, you're sure to find something to snack on. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the bagged goodies you can take home, including hard-boiled peanuts perfect for a mid-shopping snack.
Decker's is a one-of-a-kind flea market near Murphy that is a must-visit on any trip to this part of Western North Carolina. Be sure to add it as a destination and carve out plenty of time in your schedule to see it all.
