Finding new and fun places to explore the outdoors in the Tar Heel State is a must, especially this year. Nestled in the natural flora of Cary, North Carolina, sits an outdoor lover's paradise in the form of an urban park that's a must if you love the outdoors.
At 160 acres, Apex Community Park doles out endless fun for those seeking to reconnect with Mother Nature.
Located just shy of 15 miles southwest of the North Carolina State House in Raleigh, this hidden park is a natural if you're seeking a socially-distant spot to enjoy spending some quality time outside.
The park features a number of attractions, including a 50-acre lake where canoes, kayaks, and non-motorized jon boats are always welcome.
The lake's fishing pier offers a fantastic spot to soak in the views, fish, or just explore.
Additionally, the park's more than three miles of walking paths provide accessible means for traversing the park, whether on foot or wheels.
Visit anytime of year. The park is open year round with hours that vary by season.
You may not expect to find such a wonderfully hidden spot so close to our state's capitol, but here it is! Even non-humans love it, it's so wonderful.
Other attractions at Apex Community Park include three ball fields, two batting cages, three sand volleyball courts, six tennis courts, four basketball courts, a children's playground, and picnic areas.
This year, especially, finding new and fun places to explore with the family is essential. Plan a road trip over to Cary to check out Apex Community Park. There's enough to do here to keep you entertained outside all day long.
