There's something special about shopping at craft markets. Whether you are a local or just visiting a place, the atmosphere at a market is so welcoming. They bring you back to simpler times when things were produced not far from where they were purchased. If you ever find yourself longing for those days before worldwide corporations, one place you'll want to check out is The Windmill in New York. It's a farm and craft market that's located in Penn Yan, an adorable little village in the Finger Lakes region.
There is so much to see and do here. They've got more than 50 vendors. Your options run the gauntlet from handmade craft items to produce, and collectible antiques to personal care items.
If you're looking for fresh-baked breads and desserts, you'll come home satisfied. There are several vendors that sell ready-to-eat foods and we won't judge you if you rip open the packaging and go at it immediately.
Anyone who's visited this area knows that there's plenty of amazing produce in the Finger Lakes region. You can get some of everything here at The Windmill!
There's nothing like the taste of fruits and veggies (or eggs!) fresh from the farm. You'll never go back to store-bought produce again.
Many of the vendors have been here for years or even decades. Martin's Kitchen started selling at The Windmill in 1998. They offer coffees, teas, and bulk spices.
You've absolutely got to stop by Nana's Tater Shack. They sell deep-fried butterfly-cut potatoes that are to die for. There's a variety of toppings to choose from.
The craft selection is incredible. Paintings, toys, glassware, furniture, pottery...they've really got a little bit of everything.
You can even pick up a beautiful bouquet of flowers!
