Getting married can be quite an expensive event, often drawing people to the idea of eloping and planning something small for themselves. If you've ever considered a courthouse wedding because of things like wanting to save money, the desire for a small audience, or simply wanting to do something outside of the norm, we may have the perfect compromise for you! Floating out on a small-town pond, see why this little chapel is the most unique wedding venue in all of New York.
Hidden away in small-town Central New York, Oneida is home to what's considered to be the World's Smallest Church.
Along the roadside, you'll see a large informational sign giving you the basic facts about Cross Island Chapel, New York's only floating chapel.
Out in the middle of the pond, all that you'll find here is the 28.68-square-foot chapel and a small cross situated on some rocks.
The chapel may seem minuscule, but you can actually fit three people inside! That means there's just enough room for you, your loved one, and someone to officiate the wedding.
Don't worry, you won't be entirely alone, you can usually find turtles and ducks gathering to watch your ceremony from out on the water.
The most unique and intimate wedding experience that you'll find available to you in New York, we can't get enough of Cross Island Chapel.
Cross Island Chapel is a Non-Denominational Church and is open to the public upon request all throughout the year. To make your way out to the chapel, all you'll have to do is take a quick boat ride from the roadside.
Cross Island Chapel is located along Mason Road, near Sconoda Road and Hill Road Oneida, New York 13421 - To find out more information, call 315-264-4257
