The Empire State is known for many things, just one of them being the massive amount of breathtaking waterfalls that you can find here. Hidden all over our state, it's not hard to find yourself stumbling upon waterfalls that you've never heard of or have yet to explore. Less than a 10-minute drive away from the popular Watkins Glen State Park, this lesser-known gem of Schuyler County will lead you to natural wonders that you'll fall in love with. If you're in this area and wondering if there are any "waterfalls near me", wonder no more.
Just below the southern shores of Seneca Lake is the incredible scenic village of Montour Falls.
Drive through town and you'll quickly notice natural wonders you can walk right up to like Shequaga Falls in Montour Falls that's right along South Genesee Street.
Less than two miles away from the over 160-foot Shequaga Falls in town is a gorgeous little outdoor area known as Havana Glen Park.
Here, you'll find some of the best waterfall hikes in New York.
The park features a short but sweet trail that will take you through a gorge, a hike that's doable for visitors of all ages, which is not always common with hiking trails with waterfalls in New York.
Along the trail, you'll discover a waterfall made up of small cascades that you'll find to be absolutely stunning.
But you'll be even more pleasantly surprised when you realize these cascades aren't the only waterfalls that you can find at Havana Glen!
Situated beautifully at the end of the trail for you is the over 40-foot tall Eagle Cliff Falls, a spot that's perfect for dipping your feet into the water to cool off.
So ditch the crowds at Watkins Glen State Park and trade in your day trip for an unforgettable experience at Havana Glen Park in the Finger Lakes.
Havana Glen is full of plenty of places where you can enjoy a picnic and take in all of the mesmerizing scenery that's here; a great destination for a day trip. The scenic park is only open to visitors from mid-May through the month of October though, so you'll want to plan your visit around that!
