We’ve all made ramen at home. But how many of us have ever made ramen in a restaurant? Well, at the Instant Noodle Factory, that’s exactly what visitors must do. It’s cheap, fun, and tasty. Honesty? Instant Noodle Factory contains no waiters or public restroom, with customers ordering using a computer kiosk.

Shortly after ordering, visitors will receive a paper bowl full of uncooked, dried noodles, with a seasoning package to the side of the bowl. Though there are no waiters on hand, there is an employee available to help explain the process of how to cook the soup.

The soup is cooked using an appliance that both provides hot water and contains an induction cooktop, which heats the soup for a short amount of time—a couple of minutes.

The price of the noodles begins at $2.40 and goes up to $6.50 for high-cost offerings—one example is Tseng brand handpulled-style spicy sesame noodles, which is a favorite of the owners. Visitors can also select up to three toppings, which include corn and scallions, as well as more expensive premium add-ons, like shrimp shumai for $2.50.

Additionally available are prearranged combos, which include Kimcheese, a kimchi-flavored soup that includes fresh kimchi and a slice of American cheese. It runs for $9. Then there is Beef Birria, a soup that is centered around Mexican spices and tender beef.

The restaurant has been doing so good that they recently opened a second location at 130 E. 7th street in the East Village.
