We get it: New England supposedly has the title of "best seafood in the northeast." You may be surprised to know there are plenty of excellent seafood restaurants in New York, too. There's no need to travel to the coast to get crabs and shrimp; we've got plenty of good seafood in New York. Check out these delicious restaurants:
1. The Clam Bar (Syracuse)
The Clam Bar has been a Syracuse institution since 1965. They've got a great bar and are open for lunch and dinner. While their seafood is great (you won't want to miss the clams!), the land-based fare is pretty good too. They offer chicken and hamburgers and have a number of surf and turf options. Visit their website for more information.
2. Maxie's Supper Club and Oyster Bar (Ithaca)
Maxie's Supper Club and Oyster Bar is an Ithaca restaurant that combines New Orleans soul with New York style. They have a variety of Cajun dishes, including jambalaya and Cajun-seared Ahi tuna. Herbivores, rejoice: they've got some vegetarian options as well. Check out the tasty menu on their website.
3. Hudson Anchor Restaurant (Sleepy Hollow)
Hudson Anchor is a lovely option if you're looking for rooftop dining in New York. This Sleepy Hollow joint has great views of the Hudson River. Their salmon is incredible and they have other great options as well. Visit their website for more information.
4. Moby Rick's (Saratoga Springs)
Moby Rick's is owned by a third-generation fisherman, so you know he knows his stuff! This Saratoga Springs restaurant prides itself on serving only the freshest of dishes. Much of their stock is caught in nearby Boston or Long Island. Their website has more photos and information.
5. Hott Stuff N Butta (Albany)
This one's a fun one. The restaurant may not look like much, but it's incredible! The staff are super-friendly and it's got a great atmosphere. The catfish is drool-worthy. It's a small restaurant, so you may have a little bit of a wait time, but we promise it's worth a line. Their fried food has a delicious seasoning that makes it taste different than anywhere else's. You can view their menu online.
6. Steve's Clam Bar (Buffalo)
Steve's Clam Bar has been serving the Buffalo area for more than 40 years! Their menu is simple, but you won't find better clams anywhere else. Their clams casino dish lacks the bacon that many clams casino dishes have, but it's wonderful. Their Facebook will make you drool.
7. Rella (Rochester)
Rella in Rochester is absolutely delicious. They serve local food whenever possible and offer several shrimp dishes and clams, all just as beautiful as they are delicious. You'll definitely want to add them to your bucket list!
