Unlike other cities around the country, Buffalo isn't one where you'll find a huge train system operating through it. Don't get down in the dumps though; this doesn't mean you have to miss out on enjoying scenic train rides and all the fun that comes along with riding the rails. If you head just short of an hour northeast of the city, you can have the pleasure of riding an actual Polar Express train this winter. Check it out!
More than just a museum, the Medina Railroad Museum also features actual train rides that take you on an unforgettable adventure.
Once the holidays roll around, the train station turns into our very own North Pole and is decorated like Santa's actual workshop.
Outside of the station, you'll find the museum lit up and covered in holiday decorations and lights, with Christmas trees and ornaments set up everywhere you look. It’s a truly magical sight to see!
This year, the Medina Railroad Museum has unveiled a new, bigger, Santa Sleigh that’s set up outside of the station for families to take picture-perfect holiday photos.
The hour-long holiday train ride brings passengers up to the North Pole, and the entire family will enjoy singing along to the songs from the movie The Polar Express, as well as a Christmas storybook reading along the way.
With Polar Express and Christmas Train Rides available all throughout the month, it's time for every Buffalonian to make the trip out to the Medina Railroad Museum.
Don’t worry, it’s not too late to catch a ride on this train! The Medina Railroad Museum’s Polar Express train will run on December 15 and 16. Every child who rides the Polar Express train will receive hot chocolate, a cookie, a bell, and memories that will last a lifetime.
If you aren’t able to make the last remaining dates for the Polar Express train, there’s another option; on Saturday December 22, there will be a one-hour Christmas Train running at 11 a.m., 12:40 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:20 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 6 p.m. Passengers will have the chance to buy a First Class ticket that includes admission to the museum, a souvenir mug with hot chocolate and whipped cream, a cookie, chocolate train sucker, and a stuffed reindeer doll from Santa!
