Upstate New York is home to tons of historic homes. If you're in New York and looking to get the full Empire State experience, why not stay in an old inn that's filled with history and character? The Belva Lockwood Inn was built in 1815 and has now undergone a complete renovation. It has had many lives throughout its centuries of existence and now serves as a charming inn for visitors to the Finger Lakes area.
The Belva Lockwood Inn was constructed way back in 1815. It was originally a private home for Charles Pumpelly.
The Pumpelly family was one of the richest in the area at that time.

After Pumpelly moved, the beautiful home was converted into a women's boarding and day school, The Owego Female Seminary. The seminary was purchased in 1863 by Belva Lockwood, for whom the property is now named.
The home was partially dismantled and moved just a few blocks away after Lockwood sold it in the late 1860s. It served as a meeting spot for the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was then a private residence.
The inn has five charming rooms available for rent. This one, known as the Eagles Club room, was once home to the Eagles Club office. It's still got some of the original furniture that was used by the Eagles Club!

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days.
