I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
The Land of Enchantment has more than enough enchanting destinations that include hotels. Places like the Inn of the Five Graces, Casa de Tres Lunas, and the Inn of the Mountain Gods. Not only do these hotels and resorts provide comfortable accommodations and amenities but an experience you won’t soon forget. Tucked away in the Sangre de Cristo, is another place that fits the bill of unforgettable places. Casa del Gavilan Historic Inn is a bucket list hotel in New Mexico that’s both scenic and historic.
Casa del Gavilan Historic Inn is a special place. Built between 1910 and 1912 for Connecticut couple, Jack and Gertrude Nairn, the adobe abode has soaring ceilings, wood beams, and walls that are 18 inches thick.
Philmont Scout Ranch surrounds the picturesque villa creating a remote destination for a getaway. Here you will be able to take in views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and go hiking on one of the nearby trails. This is a peaceful place to spend some time.
There are only six hotel rooms and each one has a private bathroom with a bathtub and shower. And with only six rooms, the inn won't be overloaded with guests, making your stay as peaceful as possible.
One of the best aspects of this hotel, at least in my opinion, is the sheer lack of televisions in the guest rooms. Additionally, there are no telephones. No tech, no distractions = peace and quiet. That's priceless!
Each morning, a full home-cooked breakfast is served. When's the last time you had a delicious breakfast like this? The inn also provides to-go lunches and cheese trays if you'd like as well, and you can add these options as enhancements to your stay.
If you order a lunch, you can take it outside and have a picnic surrounded by nature, wildlife, and the mountains. You'll certainly find a sense of tranquility by staying at Casa del Gavilan Historic Inn.
