The town of Dulce, New Mexico is located near Chama, next to the Colorado border, on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. According to the 2010 census, the population is small - 2743 people. The place seems innocent enough, right down to the town’s name, which means "sweet." You know there’s going to be a "but," right? Of course. Dulce is one of those places where urban legend abounds, and it's one of the strangest places in New Mexico, we think, because of one rumor in particular. Is the Dulce Base in New Mexico reality - or fantasy? You decide:
Over the years there have been claims that there is a secret military base under Dulce, specifically beneath the Archuleta Mesa.
That much seems theoretically possible. After all, thanks to television and movies, we’ve all heard of black sites. However, the rumors swirling around the Dulce legend are… extreme.
The Dulce base has been compared to Area 51 and its occupants are alleged to experiment on human test subjects.
Ice Wolf Videos makes YouTube videos that focus on spooky paranormal topics – anything from historical artifacts that are out of place, to mysterious tombs - they cover it. This video summarizes the crux of the Dulce Base in New Mexico claims. If you don't know what the term "gray" means, you will after this!
The one thing that this video fails to reference is the Aztec UFO Incident. In 1948, a UFO supposedly crashed near Aztec, New Mexico (roughly 80 miles west of Dulce). The crash is widely thought to have been a hoax. But not everyone was convinced.
Perhaps that is how the speculation around Dulce began.
Do you think there could be a secret underground Dulce base? If so, do you believe it’s likely to house extraterrestrial life forms? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
