If you haven't yet visited the ABQ BioPark in Albuquerque, you are missing out one of the most beautiful, lush gardens in the country! The Botanical Gardens at the BioPark are a true oasis, and features plants from around the world! With 1.5 miles of pathways through 32 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and exhibits, this is one spot that should not be missed!
There are several permanent exhibits at the BioPark Botanical Gardens, including a Desert Conservatory, Mediterranean Conservatory, the Camino de Colores, the Sasebo Japanese Garden and several tree gardens.
The park is generally filled with appreciative people of all ages. The weather is most comfortable in the spring or fall, but these beautiful gardens bloom all year long. Christmas sees the park lit up in an amazing array of colors and shapes.
The use of water and native plants throughout the park is both soothing and familiar.
There is also a Butterfly Pavilion, Dragonfly Sanctuary Pond, and a BUGarium insect display!
The Heritage Farm contains an authentic farmhouse, surrounded by orchards and vineyards. There are many farm animals, including large oxen, cows, and beautiful horses.
The ABQ BioPark is also home to the Zoo and Aquarium, as well as Tingley Beach – a series of fishing ponds and a model boating pond surrounded by walking and bike trails. A short train ride will transport you across town to the Rio Grande Zoo. The bamboo you see growing at the Botanical Gardens supplements the zoo animal's diets!
This park is highly rated among similar parks in the US. For a relatively small city endeavor, it is quite impressive! When in Albuquerque, be sure to set aside a few hours to enjoy these attractions!
