Find the perfect spring hiking trail at Tourne County Park in Boonton, New Jersey. The short, sweet, and scenic Emilie Hammond Wildflower Trail is ideal for families and flower lovers! It's absolutely incredible in mid-late May and you're going to want to visit.
Tourne County Park is a local gem with a variety of trails.
The wildflower trail got its start in 1961 when the Rockaway Valley Garden Club took on the mission of identifying the beautiful wildflowers in the park.
By 1972, the trail was complete!
At the trail's entrance, you'll find an information kiosk with maps and wildflower guides.
There are approximately 250 plant and flower species along the trail that are native to New Jersey. There's a label denoting each unique variety, so you can learn as you stroll.
The trail is gated to keep out local wildlife and preserve the plants. There's a parking lot right at the trailhead for visitors.
If you're looking for a longer hike, explore one of the park's other trails after completing this short, easy trek.
You may spot one of several giant glacial erratics (boulders) on your journey.
