The Jersey Shore is always hopping as the weather gets warmer, and no town is more in the middle of it all than Wildwood. Home to a stunning beach, a convention center, and the state's best boardwalk amusement park, there's always something to do. But on Memorial Day weekend, between May 26th and 29th in 2023, there's only one place to be - watching the skies as the largest kite festival in New Jersey takes flight. The Wildwoods International Kite Festival begins outside the Wildwoods Convention Center, and goes all weekend as thousands of colorful and inventive kites sail over the skyline. There will be plenty of interactive events for those who want to participate, but just being on-site to watch this dazzling display is one of the most memorable experiences in New Jersey.
There is always something going on in Wildwood, but you've never seen it like it's going to look on Memorial Day.
The boardwalk is always a top attraction, home to the world-famous Morey's Pier amusement park.
For one weekend, though, the action will center around the Wildwoods Convention Center - which is where all the fun begins.
The Wildwoods International Kite Festival will see local artists and those from far away unite to bring thousands of unique kites to life.
From there, they will take to the skies - fascinating all around and transforming the beach into a kaleidoscope of color.
Many of the kites will pay tribute to the seaside theme, bringing all manner of nautical animals to life.
Others take a more random approach, sending wacky cartoon characters into the skies over the shore.
Kite races and other activities abound for participants, but there is no simpler joy at the event than just relaxing and watching the kites go by.
