This road trip starts early, because it's time to catch the sunrise at Wyanokie High Point.
This overlook in Norvin Green State Forest might take a bit of work to summit, but it's one of the best places to see the sun rising high above Manhattan Island and touching New Jersey for the first time.
Take a short detour to see the Great Falls in Paterson. This area is a National Historical Park and one of the most impressive wonders in New Jersey.
After a brisk morning walk, it's time for the best New Jersey breakfast. New Brunswick is home to Hole In The Wall Bagels, where you can get your pork roll, egg, and cheese - or just a bagel with a schmear. You can't go wrong.
Next up, head down to Freehold. The hometown of New Jersey legend Bruce Springsteen is also home to another legend... Delicious Orchards.
This bakery here turns out the best pies and cider donuts in the state.
They also offer a big selection of gourmet groceries and pre-made meals.
Time to walk off those donuts. You'll love a visit to Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, on the Atlantic Ocean.
If you want more time to wander, Double Trouble State Park isn't too far away. This historic former cranberry bog is worth a visit.
Did all that walking work up your appetite again? South we go, to Sea Isle City and Hank Sauce.
Hank Sauce started out as a hot sauce company, but they've grown to become one of the best casual restaurants at the shore. Try the pinchos, burgers (with hank-a-q), or the wings. Yum!
After a delicious meal, it's time to end your day the way you started it - by watching the sun.
Sunset Beach in Cape May is one of the most scenic spots to catch the sunset, and you'll feel at peace after a relaxing drive through the gorgeous Garden State.
