Fall is an amazing time for birdwatching in the Garden State, and I'm always excited to find out about a new way to see the majestic migrating creatures. So I was blown away when I found out that there was a unique birdwatching cruise in New Jersey! Birding by Boat on the Osprey is located in Cape May, and takes guests out on a boat captained by veteran captain Bob Lubberman, who has been guiding these tours since 1995. The tours take guests through some of the little-seen wetlands surrounding the Cape May coast, many of which don't have direct access by land. These largely untouched areas are home to countless native and migrating birds, and these two-hour tours are among the best way to see wild birds in the entire state. The cruise is still running through November, so read on to discover more about this adventure!
All aboard! The Osprey is giving two-hour cruises across the wetlands of Cape May for bird-lovers.
These wetlands are among the best-hidden secrets of the Garden State, an ecosystem that feels a world away from the bustling shore town.
Aboard, this is an experience perfectly suited for nature-lovers. Those who didn't bring binoculars will find extra on board.
The wetlands are always full of birds when the cruise is running, but the population will vary based on the season.
This is a great way to see the feeding, mating, and migration habits of a broad population of birds.
The cruise is $36 to $43 for adults based on the voyage, and is a truly stunning way to see the waters around Cape May.
