Everyone knows about our beautiful oceanfront beaches but New Jersey is also home to some spectacular lakes. Most residents are probably aware of the more popular destinations including Lake Hopatcong, Round Valley Reservoir, and Atsion Lake; the lakes in our state parks tend to stand out. However, all New Jerseyans should know about the incredible lake tucked away in one of our county parks.
Lewis Morris Park is a lovely Morris County Park with hiking trails, ball fields, a playground and lake.
While the park itself is worth a visit; Sunrise Lake is the star. It offers paddleboating...
A sandy shoreline for sunbathing and beach volleyball...
A sectioned off swimming area...
And the Wibit, an inflatable obstacle course for both children and adults. There's also Zoom Floom - an inflatable water slide.
Don't miss out on the lake's unique events, like camping on the beach! Visit on June 23rd or August 4th for a night of stories and s'mores.
The park has plenty to offer, making it a perfect day trip destination and the inflatables and paddle boats only add to the fun. Sunrise Lake is open Tuesday-Sunday, and weekend admission is $7 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. Children aged 4 and under are free; weekday rates are $1 less.
