When the temperatures heat up, it's time to cool off in one of New Hampshire's beautiful lakes. The Granite State has some of the cleanest, clearest lakes in the country, and we've found one where you can relax and get away from your daily stress. Check out Spofford Lake:
Spofford Lake was named the Cleanest Lake in New Hampshire by the NH Fish and Game Department, and you'll see why when you visit.
Address: Spofford, NH, 03462
The lake covers 739 acres, and its water is incredibly clear. Once you lay your eyes on this beautiful body of water, you'll want to start exploring it.
If you enjoy boating, Spofford Lake is the place to be. The lake averages a depth of 30 feet, and is as deep as 60 feet in some spots.
Anglers enjoy fishing for largemouth bass in particular here, but smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, and northern pike are plentiful as well.
Two public beaches are perfect for lounging. Wares Grove is a public beach that welcomes guests from out of town. It's a large, sandy beach with plenty of shallow water for wading.
Spend the afternoon building sand castles, and enjoy a volleyball game. The beach is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and a lifeguard is present until 6 p.m.
North Shore Beach is the other beach on the lake. It's open only to residents of Chesterfield. It's less crowded, so if you or someone you know lives in Chesterfield, this is the one to visit!
If you can plan a visit to Spofford Lake during the autumn months, you won't be disappointed. The lake is stunning when its shores are decked out in the jewel tones of fall.
Of course, any day of the year is a good day indeed when you've spent it on Spofford Lake. Make plans to visit soon!
We'd love to hear from you if you've visited Spofford Lake. Tell us about your adventures in the comments, and share your photos. If you're looking for another crystal-clear lake, you'll definitely want to check out this beautiful lake with a beach that rivals the coast.
