Dog lovers know that any opportunity to take your dog out somewhere fun is a good one. Fortunately, there are lots of opportunities to head out to dog-friendly attractions in New Hampshire. One of our favorites is the beautiful Jenness Beach in Rye, a small stretch of oceanfront that also happens to be a gorgeous place to catch a sunrise. It may require setting your alarm earlier than you'd prefer, but watching the sun rise is such a magnificent experience. This is a great place to enjoy the beauty that is a New Hampshire dawn, and bringing along Fido is definitely an added bonus.
Jenness Beach has been a popular spot for tourists and locals alike for years. This shot from 1904 shows beach goers enjoying the sun and surf.
There's nothing like watching the sun rise from the beach. Seeing the brilliant colors of dawn breaking over the ocean while you feel the sand crunching beneath your toes is a special experience.
Making the experience even more dream-worthy is that you can bring your dog along. Jenness Beach is one of our favorite dog-friendly beaches in New Hampshire.
Please note that dogs are not allowed in the state-owned portions of the beach. Dogs are allowed on the areas that are designated as city-owned, so make sure to keep an eye out for signs. Always clean up after your dog to keep the beach clean!
The parking lot is somewhat small and can fill up early, so visiting in the off-season to catch the sun rise is a great idea.
At low tide, there's so much room to walk and explore. This is a lovely beach that tends to be less crowded than others in the area.
Whether you're just intending to catch the sunrise or want to hang out in Rye for the day, this is a great place to stop by for the morning.
Please note that if you are bringing your dog, you'll need to make sure to follow the posted hours for which dogs are allowed and only stick to the city-owned portions of the beach. There are public right-of-ways clearly marked to access all town-owned areas of Jenness Beach.
