There's a reason why some restaurants have the longevity they do. Normally, to last decades, a restaurant offers ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food, all of which make patrons want to return again and again. Better yet is if a restaurant is owned by generations of the same family which usually keeps the consistency of the service and quality going through the years. One of the oldest family-owned restaurants in New Hampshire is one we will have a look at today. And it's one you will want to visit if you find yourself in Portsmouth.
In 1960, Dinnerhorn began as a drive-in eatery where patrons could order burgers, shakes, and fried seafood.
Owned by the Kamakas family since its humble beginnings, its popularity grew and, so, it was forced to expand.
By 1965, a dining room was added to Dinnerhorn in order to accommodate the growing demand for its delicious food. And, in 1968, a patio called the Bratskellar, where you could order pizza, subs, and beer, was added.
Today, Dinnerhorn is the oldest family-owned restaurant in Portsmouth and one of the oldest in New Hampshire. And while the menu has come a long way since 1960, you can expect a fresh and delicious meal.
Whether it's a hot or cold lobster roll (or any other number of fresh seafood entrees), steak, chicken, a pasta dish, soup, or salad, the menu is quite extensive. Anyone can find something they will enjoy eating here!
Do you usually save room for dessert? Well, you're going to want to when you dine here at Dinnerhorn! Enjoy one of the decadent desserts like the Molten Lava Cake (pictured here).
