There's a lot of history in New Hampshire, but our favorite variety includes food. In fact, our favorite everything includes food. While you can't really go wrong with a diner, there are some that stand out above the rest. This one, in the Paramount-style, was actually moved to New Hampshire from New Jersey and we should all feel pretty great that it's something we don't need to travel to New Jersey to visit!
Lindy's Diner in Keene rolled into town from Haledon New Jersey back in 1961. In fact, most of the folks in town watched it being delivered!
Things inside are exactly as you might expect of an old-school diner that was built to be a cornerstone dining location in the community.
Over the years it has changed hands only a few times and each time it landed with folks who knew they needed to keep the tradition running. It's even become a must-visit by political candidates on the campaign trail.
Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have all been here! But, of course, the most important thing is the menu and that's one of the best in town!
The breakfasts are top-notch and can be ordered all-day.
And the only thing better than great food is when that food is served in heaping portions. These do not disappoint.
If you love pancakes you can get them in a variety of ways, including plain with fruit or with chocolate chips.
And if you're more of a savory breakfast eater, you'll love the hash browns!
Unlike some other diners, Lindy's also has an outdoor seating area. That means you might end up spending a little longer here in the warmer months of the year.
Lindy's Diner has truly become an institution in New Hampshire. It recently changed hands, but the food and the service has remained wonderful.
Lindy's Diner is open every day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can learn more about Lindy's, including the menu and the history on their website. They can be reached on 603-352-4273.
