The town was named for George W. Baker, one of the community's earliest settlers. It hasn't grown that much over the years, but it is home to some restaurants, stores, a post office, lodgings, and gas station. It's quaintness makes it all the more lovable.
One of the area's most notable features are the famous Lehman Caves. This stunning natural wonder was originally discovered in the late 1880s. Today, the caves, covered in an endless amount of stalagmites, are one of the most eye-catching destinations in Nevada.
Outside of Great Basin, Baker is filled with opportunities for adventure. Hiking trails are abundant, along with historical destinations such as the Baker Archaeological Site. Additionally, Highway 50 is loaded with amazing treasures and endless tranquil beauty.
