Wild Horse Reservoir was created in 1937 by the construction of the Wild Horse Dam. A newer dam, built in 1969, doubled the size of the reservoir.

This reservoir sits at 6,280 feet of elevation. It has a surface area of 2,830 acres and is 70 feet deep at its deepest point.

It's a wonderful place to spend the day on the water. It's generally very still so it's perfect for paddle boarding.

Fishing is also a popular activity at the reservoir. Anglers can catch trout, bass, catfish, and perch.

It's a fantastic spot for ice fishing in the winter, too.

Boating is also a fun activity at this reservoir. There's a boat ramp near the day use area in the recreation area.

You can also enjoy picnicking on the shores of the reservoir, camping at the recreation area, and hiking on the many trails to and near the water.

Due to the remote location of this reservoir, you'll feel like you've really managed to get away from it all.
