The automobile has been a vital part of American industry and our collective national identity for many decades. That relationship is on display at the Classic Car Collection, a huge collection of restored rare and vintage cars. There's something for everyone to love here, not just car enthusiasts!
The Classic Car Collection is a unique museum housing more than 200 cars in addition to a number of other displays. This impressive attraction opened in 2011 following a generous donation of 131 classic cars from Bernie and Janice Taulborg’s own collection.
Since then, other cars have been added, bringing the total up to more than 200. You'll see cars from every decade of the 20th century here, though the focus is partially on mid-century vehicles and vehicle culture.
The golden age of American cars - the 1950s and 1960s - is particularly celebrated in this 50,000-square-foot showroom.
The collection isn't just about the cars themselves. It also goes into detail about the car's evolving role in American lives.
Over the decades, the automobile has become a central part of the American experience. The Classic Car Collection follows along from the car's invention all the way through to the present day.

Rare and historic autos enjoy a special place in the Classic Car Collection, including a 1938 Rolls Royce Wraith Limo and rare cars like Packard and DeLorean.
The collection looks back at the effect that cars have had on our lives, our culture, and our industry. It examines the car as art and as a driver of innovation.
Unique vignettes and displays round out the experience. From the recreated 1950s gas station to the Coca-Cola Diner (complete with vending machines for when you need to refuel during your visit), the Classic Car Collection has something for everyone, not just car lovers.
You can even feel like you've stepped back in time when you stop by the recreated drive-in theater display, or learn more about the history of automobiles at one of the interactive media displays.
Sadly, as of early 2020, plans were announced to shut down the Classic Car Collection by March of 2021, at which time the cars will be offered for sale at auction. Show up to support this unforgettable local attraction while it's still here. It's open from Friday to Sunday, 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm; visit its website or Facebook page to learn more.
