Hey nature lovers! What do you think about 3.4-million-acres of unspoiled vegetation for your outdoor recreation enjoyment and exploration? The location is western Wyoming, and the place, Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Bridger-Teton National Forest is an amalgamation of wild-lands, abundant wildlife, and watersheds that lies adjacent to three other national treasures— Grand-Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and the National Elk Refuge.
When visiting in the summer, the first thing you may notice is the diverse wildlife. The forest is a preserved habitat for hundreds of wildlife, including coyotes, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, elk, sand hill cranes, grizzly bears, and 355 species of birds. In the winter, you’re likely to see moose, mule deer, bighorn sheep, and other large mammals.
This unique piece of American heritage also features over 3,000 miles of trails and road to aid your exploration, and over thousands of miles of unspoiled streams and rivers. No matter the season you choose to visit, you’ll enjoy the recreational activities crafted for visitors.
Bridger-Teton National Forest also features 37 developed campgrounds, 34 designated trailheads, and 2,200 miles of trails for varying skill levels that are perfect for both beginners and hard-core wilderness enthusiasts. If you have a hunting permit from Wyoming Game and Fish Department, you can partake in the hunting opportunities.
The best way to enjoy the stretches of the Salt and Green Rivers that meander over the forest boundaries is to get on the water with a canoe. The scenic views are spectacular and completely worth the effort.
The forest offers rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain bike riding, and off-road vehicle touring. Three ski resorts host snowmobiling on groomed trails, ice climbing, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing in the winter.
