Just north of Green Bay, near Suamico and in the Brown County Reforestation Camp, the Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo -- known as the NEW Zoo in Wisconsin -- is a unique, family-friendly destination. Part zoo, part adventure park, this awesome attraction has a bit of something for everyone located in a truly gorgeous and unique area.

The NEW Zoo offers everything you could want from a zoo experience, without the crowds and separation that come in bigger cities.

Get up close and personal at the NEW Zoo.

The whole zoo is located in an area that was once cleared by logging, but was then targeted for revitalization and reforestation.

Now the zoo and adventure park are surrounded by a thriving wilderness.

The zoo is open year-round and the adventure park is open seasonally starting in April.

The zoo is just one of seven in the country that receives no funding from property taxes. It's entirely privately supported.

And the NEW Zoo in Wisconsin has big plans for the future. They're always working on projects to better connect the zoo and adventure park, to expand the animal experiences at the zoo, and take better advantage of their location to make the NEW Zoo a year-round destination.

Long-term plans to add camping and cross-country skiing, are one of their goals. The plan is long term and fully dependent on funding. One of the first plans is to expand the adventure park.

The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until April 1, when they'll extend their hours until 6 p.m.

During the summer -- June, July and August -- they're open even longer hours.

Admission is free for Children 2 and under,

$6 for children ages 3 to 15, $9 for ages 16 and up and $6 for seniors (62+).

There's so much to see and do at the NEW Zoo, even in the colder months.

This guy is just two months old and learning his way around. New babies are a great reason to check out the zoo in the late winter and early spring.

The zoo offers a wide variety of educational programs as well as chance to spend the night.

The staff is fully flexible and able to accommodate most any need upon request.

If you're not sold yet on the zoo, how can you resist this face?

From November to March, the adventure park portion is only open by appointment.

But come April 1, it'll be open on weekends -- and in June, July and August it's open every day.

The course is great for groups and team-building or just to test yourself or wear out your kids a bit on a long day.

There are options for many age levels and admission varies whether you're going to do just the ropes course or add in the zip line.

The best part about the adventure park is how minimally invasive and well-integrated it is.

The start of the zip line is atop the historic 1955 fire tower.

From climbing walls to ropes challenges, there's a little bit of everything here.

Ticket prices vary by activity, with combined, all-in-one passes available.

There are is also an accessible zip line that can be used for those with limitations; though you should call and talk to someone at the adventure park to discuss specifics.

You'll definitely wear the kids out while learning a ton at the zoo and having a great day. There's not a lot that compete with a day at the NEW Zoo.
