It’s hard to top Wisconsin’s Devil’s Lake State Park – it has a unique and gorgeous lake that’s flanked by towering rock-covered bluffs. The park’s challenging trails reward hikers with some of the best vistas in the Midwest. But all of this hiking, climbing, swimming, and scenery can make an outdoors person a little thirsty. Enter Tumbled Rock Brewery, a watering hole in Wisconsin that’s perfectly located at the gateway to the park.
Tumbled Rock Brewery is about as close as you can get to the state park without needing a park pass on the window of your car. It’s located just outside the park’s North entrance -- this view shows how close it is to the lake.
The brewery is beautiful but it has an expansive patio so you can enjoy food and drinks outside. The property sprawls across two acres.
On nice days, the brewery is hard to beat and it often draws a crowd. Pick a beer that’s brewed on site or a craft cocktail and enjoy the great outdoors!
There are plenty of reasons to head inside, though. The brewery has a taproom where you can sample its inventive creations. If you’ve already visited the park, the “Swimmer’s Itch” wheat sour might hit close to home!
The brewery has an open concept restaurant with a full bar, wood-fired pizza oven, and a cozy fireplace. The menu has a lot of tasty items, including vegetarian and vegan options. Portions are substantial so you might need a doggy bag!
There are 11 wood-fired pizzas on the menu and they are all wonderful. One crowd pleaser is the “From the Farm,” which is decked out with sweet corn, bacon, leeks, red onion, garlic confit, mozzarella, and ricotta cheese.
Tumbled Rock Brewery in Wisconsin is open daily, and you can find more information on the website. It sometimes hosts live music and special events and the brewery is always a good time. If you love unique Wisconsin breweries, this is a must-visit and here are some others you should put on your list.
