Way up north, about as far north as you can get in Wisconsin, there's a tiny strip of land that has one of the longest stretches of freshwater beach. Just south of the Superior Entry Point, Wisconsin Point is an amazing, wild, pristine stretch of sand on Lake Superior that you will absolutely fall in love with. It's not easy to get to; it's in the far reaches of the state and it's on one of the coldest bodies of water in the country. But if you're still willing to test it out, you'll uncover one of the state's most beautiful, secluded beaches.
This stretch of sand is actually about 10 miles long - three miles belong to the Dairy State and are Wisconsin Point. Another seven miles belong to Minnesota and are called Minnesota Point. They are some of the most wild, untouched and gorgeous miles of beach you will ever find.
Because of the beating this strip of land takes throughout the year, getting to this beach isn't always the easiest. Wear good shoes to trek through the grass and over the detritus and the payoff is so, so worthwhile.
One of the best parts about this beach is that it's not for the faint of heart. It's just a small bit of work to get here, but that deters many. The water is also usually fairly chilly.
None of that matters when you get your first glimpse of this long, sandy beach that feels like it would be more at home in the Caribbean than on Wisconsin's northern shores.
You'll swear you're much farther away from home than you actually are as you walk up to the water on Wisconsin Point.
It's the perfect place to spend a few days relaxing, escaping real life and creating memories with your family.
It seems impossible that this stretch of pristine beach is available to us right here in Wisconsin.
There are no amenities, so prepare to carry in everything you need for the day and then be sure to clean up after yourselves and take everything out. You swim at your own risk, so make sure you're careful. But the reward of an unspoiled beach is absolutely worth it.
This truly is one of the best, most underrated stretches of sand in all of Wisconsin.
Unsurprisingly, the sunsets here are breathtaking. Don't be surprised to see small bonfires pop up on the beach as the light wanes. Even if you didn't spend the day in the water, this is a great place to end your day in Superior, unwinding, taking in the sights and marveling at how awesome Wisconsin really is.
Located off Highway 53 on Moccasin Mike Road at the southeastern edge of the City of Superior.
