Pizza farms may be a new trend, but at A-to-Z Produce and Bakery, it's something they've been doing since 1998. Located on 80 acres outside Stockholm, WI, A-to-Z is part hearth-baked bread, part long-running pizza night and always a local farm with tons of fresh produce as well as sheep, pigs and cattle grazing on the land.
Every Tuesday night in Spring and Summer people line up and wait hours for the pizza that owners Robbi Bannen & Ted Fisher dish out. The wood-fired oven they use for the pizza is the same one they use to create a variety of breads from the grains grown and milled on site. That baking background means the pizzas come on a homemade sourdough crust in a process that begins on Sunday night feeding their starter and working to create the perfect crust for the ingredients that move from field to oven in just a few steps.
Even while school is still in session, folks drive from the Twin Cities to get a taste of the unusual combinations and amazing flavors A-to-Z serves up. Seasonal produce as well as meats from their own livestock mean the pizza here is as local as it gets.
Fresh ingredients fresh from the wood-fired oven are reason enough to trek to A-to-Z.
