If you’re looking for an easy hike with a big payoff, you’re sure to love the trail at Pine View Campground. It’s fairly flat and just over a mile and a half. But the best thing about the trail isn’t that it’s lacking in difficulty or miles - that honor goes to the waterfall swimming hole found along its path.
Pine View Campground is located in Sparta.
It’s part of Fort McCoy, a 60,000-acre army base. Don’t worry, though. The campground is open to the public.
A great choice for campers of all kinds, Pine View Campground has cabins, yurts, RV sites, and primitive campsites.
But you don’t have to stay overnight to take advantage of all the campground has to offer.
A great day trip destination, Pine View Campground boasts lots of amenities, including a 1.6-mile trail system.
The trails that wind through the campground are linked together, so you can hike the entire 1.6 miles or just a portion of it.
If you choose to hike just a portion of the trail, it should definitely be the portion that includes Trout Falls.
Situated right along the trail, Trout Falls couldn’t be easier to access.
But you can do more than admire the beauty of Trout Falls.
You can actually bask in its waters!
Though not especially tall, the cascade is wide and features a pool of pristine water below, making it a great place for a refreshing dip.
Once you’re finished exploring Trout Falls, you can continue along the trail system, or head back the way you came.
