We got our first sneak peak of what a hot, sweltering summer is on its way. Fortunately for us, our great state is chock full of ways to cool down in summer. You can swim in a waterfall or visit a waterpark, but if those sound like a bit too much work, today's feature is for you.
When you're ready to cool off and relax, head to Shawano for a slow, meandering trip down the lower Wolf River in an inner tube. The upper part of the river offers some of the best rapids in the state, but the lower part is absolutely perfect for a calm, lazy trip with your family.
Spend a relaxing day reclining in an inner tube as you float down the lower Wolf River.
It's a great way to spend a few hours and totally affordable. Adults are just $12, kids are $10 and an inner tube for your cooler is also $10.
Blue Mountain Outfitters takes care of everything, from tube rentals to transportation. You'll enter the river at Judd Park and spend two hours soaking up the sun, forgetting your cares and having a great time.
Make sure you plan ahead and stuff a cooler with refreshments to make your trip more enjoyable.
The lower Wolf River provides a wide open floating zone with regular currents to keep you moving.
Then tie your group together and prepare to float on down the amazing natural lazy river.
Coal Mountain also rents kayaks and canoes, if you're interested in a more strenuous view of the water.
Enjoy the scenery as you float on down the river with family and friends.
This stretch is particularly family-friendly, so load everyone up in the car and head to Shawano for a perfect summer day of sun and fun.
