While there are many incredible state and national parks, there are local parks that are true treasures. In the rural beauty of Marinette County, McClintock County Park is a gorgeous park that’s worth seeking out. Its tumbling rapids form pretty little waterfalls, its woodland paths provide a quiet little escape, and its scenic wooden bridges offer the perfect view. Ready for a trip to somewhere special in Wisconsin? Here’s what you need to know about McClintock County Park.
Marinette County is called the "Waterfall Capital of Wisconsin" due to the abundance of waterfalls found within its borders. Some well-known waterfalls in the county include Long Slide Falls, Twelve Foot Falls, and Dave's Falls.
You’ll find McClintock County Park on the upper Peshtigo Rover, in the Town of Silver Cliff. It’s only about 90 minutes from the heart of Green Bay, but it feels a world away.
Four scenic wooden footbridges cross the river. They offer some nice spots to view the river and provide access to the forest on the other side.
If you feel like staying a while, you’re in luck – the park has a pleasant little campground. It’s a rustic campground – no electricty is available, but there’s a hand pump and some great trout fishing nearby.
The park doesn’t have a giant towering waterfall, but what it does have is pretty special. The river’s water cascades over rapids in the park, forming pretty little falls.
The park has paths that will take you through some tranquil hardwood-hemlock timber stands. The river has a nice current in the park, but it pools and swirls in the rocky shade of the forest. It's beautiful!
I’ve visited this park to take photos a couple times and it’s gorgeous - it’s a great spot on a waterfall tour of the county. There’s a lot to explore in Marinette County - it has some wild spots that are unlike any other places in Wisconsin.
