Welcome to the Milwaukee RiverWalk!
Along the Milwaukee River is a two-mile long pedestrian path, featuring art, history, and businesses.
This RiverWalk truly brings life to the city, and just this year it even won a Global Award of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute, meaning that experts think we're using our land in the best way.
Throughout history, the river has been an important part of Milwaukee.
Hundreds of years ago, our river was used to trade goods with Native Americans who lived along the riverbanks. Though those times have changed, the river is still a vital part of living in Milwaukee, though its uses have changed. Now, people kayak, canoe, and boat along the river—all which you can view walking along the RiverWalk!
Not only is it beautiful, it's a good way to get around!
The RiverWalk connects three different neighborhoods over about 20 blocks: The Historic Third Ward, Downtown, and The Beerline, with a walkway on each side of the river. This path offers everything from hip waterfront restaurants, to views of our skyline, to art everywhere.
The RiverWalk features an ever-changing art walk.
On any given stroll along the river, you’ll run into temporary installments, and permanent sculptures such as the whimsical piece: Gertie the Duck. One place to truly see the artistry of Milwaukee is upon the RiverWalk.
While walking along the river, you might run into a friendly face.
Get ready to say, "Ayyy!" As the Fonz from Happy Days lives beside our river...in bronze form. This statue has been giving us the thumbs up since 2008. The "Bronz Fonz" is a popular spot for a photo-op, and one to write home about.
There’s really no better way to experience Milwaukee.
Upon this enchanting walk, you’ll see friendly faces dining on the shore, views of the city like no other, and multiple places to shop or eat. This walk is historic, artistic, and an all-encompassing Milwaukee experience like no other.
