That crunch of leaves below your feet. Picking up the most perfect, red leaf to put in a scrapbook. Seeing treetops in all different colors. This is fall in Wisconsin. Fall is probably the most beautiful time of year to see our state. And if you're looking for beautiful foliage, you have a great chance of getting some breathtaking views at these 9 state parks:
1. Wyalusing State Park
Located in Bagley, this state park is beautiful anytime of year, with gorgeous views of the Mississippi. But if you can see it in Autumn, particularly on a misty day, it's a sight to see.
2. Governor Dodge State Park
People love Governor Dodge State Park, located in Dodgeville, for these incredible, protruding rocks. See their majesty among the changing treetops is spectacular.
3. Blue Mound State Park
If there was any shot that captured autumn in Wisconsin, this might be it. Wow. You can get this view at the watch towers at Blue Mound State Park, located in Blue Mounds.
4. Peninsula State Park
A lot of people travel to Door County during the summer, but it actually might be most beautiful during the fall. Just check out this overhead shot of Peninsula State Park!
5. Lake Kegonsa State Park
Located in Stoughton, this park is beautiful and often overlooked. Just check out these colors, certainly enhanced by the sunset.
6. High Cliff State Park
This park, located in Sherwood, is known for its breathtaking scenery during any time of year. But with the trees changing color, and their position on these cliffs, it makes for great photos.
7. Devil's Lake State Park
Travelling to Baraboo shouldn't just be restricted to summer. Check out this great shot of Devil's Lake State Park in the fall. Seeing those striking colors reflected in the lake is phenomenal.
8. Yellowstone Lake State Park
Located in Blanchardville, this southwestern Wisconsin state park offers beautiful views all year long, but there's nothing quite like seeing the changing foliage from your boat.
9. Rib Mountain State Park
Clearly, Wausau is where it's at if you want to see some majestic yellow maples. Gorgeous park, especially when the colors start to change.
