If ever there were a place worthy of being deemed magical or otherworldly, it’s Bookworm Gardens! As the name implies, it’s a garden. But what the name doesn’t tell you is that it’s completely inspired by children’s literature. Utterly surreal, a visit is sure to delight both the young and young at heart.
Once upon a time, there existed a magical place that brought children’s books to life…and that magical place is Bookworm Gardens in Sheboygan.
Located adjacent to UW Sheboygan, Bookworm Gardens is open seasonally from May 1st thru October 31st.
Established in 2010, the whimsical grounds now include over 70 different gardens – each of which is inspired by a children’s book.
Today, the gardens attract over 80,000 visitors a year – and for good reason.
Bookworm Gardens is nothing short of enchanting!
Spanning seven acres, the grounds include colorful blooms, vibrant greenery, and...
...lots of nods to children’s literature.
Like something from a dream, the gardens feature characters and scenery that are sure to look familiar.
From the Magic School Bus to the three bears, you never know what (or who) you’ll find at Bookworm Gardens.
Well, actually, you do kinda know – and it’s thanks to the Bookworm Book List, which you can view here.
Tours aren’t the only way to enjoy the gardens, though. Bookworm Gardens hosts summer camps, weekend events, and classes for learners of all ages.
