The paved path is easy on little legs and completely handicap accessible. Begin your journey by crossing a charming footbridge.
The sanctuary is home to quite a few species of animals. They are housed in enclosures that mimic their natural environments.
Some of the animal you will encounter include black bear, mountain lions, fox, elk, falcons, turkeys, eagles, and others.
As you walk the trail, you can observe the animals as you might see them in the wild. Interpretive signs along the way will help you gain insight to these creatures and their habitats, biology, interactions with humans, and more.
You can easily make an afternoon of a visit to this park. There are picnic areas and a well-stocked fishing pond too.
There's even a visitor's center where you can check out the souvenirs and purchase refreshments while you visit.

If you have animal lovers in your family, a trip to the West Virginia State Wildlife Center is an ideal day trip. The park is open to the public April 1 - October 31 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and November 1 - March 31 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
