There's a hidden forest right in the middle of one of West Virginia's largest cities. The WVU Core Arboretum can be found in the midst of Morgantown, and Spring is the perfect time to visit. You'll get a chance to see plenty of wildflowers in bloom!
WVU Core Arboretum is a forested area tucked away in the heart of Morgantown, adjacent to the WVU Coliseum.
The trails are open to visitors from dawn until dusk, free of charge.
Springtime is the perfect season to take a hike, while many wildflowers in bloom.
Depending on when you visit, you might see different varieties of wildflowers.
This Trout Lily usually starts blooming in mid-April.
You might even see rare flowers, like the Trillium.
Dwarf Larkspur is blooming right about now, giving a pop of color to the forest floor.
Virginia Bluebells are starting to bloom, and will continue brightening the forest into May.
Make plans to see this carpet of color before spring is over!
