The Seneca Creek Trail is one of the most beautiful in all of West Virginia, and it's a perfect summer getaway. You'll find the trail in the Monongahela National Forest, in the Seneca Creek Backcountry.

The trail is 9.7 miles out and back. While you can hike this one for a long day trip, most hikers backpack in and camp in one of the many spots nestled along the creek.

The trail follows Seneca Creek most of the way, and the lush forest provides plenty of shade.
This hike is considered strenuous. However, the Seneca Creek Trail difficulty is rated as moderate. Parts of the trail are steep, and you'll gain a total of 757 feet during your 10-mile trip. A walking stick or hiking poles will ease your way along the steep sections.
You'll see lots of small waterfalls along the way, but the real payoff is Seneca Falls, which cascades down into a beautiful pool that you might want to dip into to cool off after your long hike.
Dogs are allowed on this trail, so bring your pup along. Just make sure to clean up after him and keep him close to you while hiking.
