It is said that a rose by any other name wouldn't smell as sweet. Whether that's true or not, we don't know... but we do know that if you love to stop and smell the roses, then the best option for that in West Virginia is nestled within a city park in Huntington. Come wander through the Ritter Park Rose Garden, a beautiful rose preserve featuring thousands of varieties of these beautiful flowers.
Over the river and through the woods...
...to Huntington's Ritter Park we go!
Hidden away under a stone arch at the top of a long, steep flight of stairs in the heart of one of West Virginia's largest cities...
...is a vibrant, colorful rose garden.
Ritter Park Rose Garden boasts over 3,000 rose bushes, and it's been voted one of America's best rose gardens on multiple occasions.
And while these award-winning flowers lie bleak and dormant all winter, that's about to change: the rose garden will reach full bloom in late May to mid-June.
A popular spot for events as well as just afternoon strolls, the rose garden includes the option to rent a room with a view of the gardens that can accommodate up to 45 people.
The Room With A View can be reserved for the day for $250. It is fully ADA accessible, while the rose garden itself is partially ADA accessible.
So climb on up through the garden gate into this fairy-tale garden to enjoy the beauty offered by the sight and smell of thousands upon thousands of roses in bloom.

There's another unique rose garden in West Virginia as well; can you guess where? The one we have in mind is on the grounds of West Virginia's Palace of Gold. Are there more? Do tell!
