Ritter Park Historic District is a national historic district located in Huntington.
The highlight is Ritter Park municipal park, which was purchased by the city in 1908.
This park is a beloved local treasure, and all it takes is one visit to see why.
Not only is it incredibly well-maintained, there's beauty hiding around every corner.
The rose garden is delightful in any season, even when the flowers aren't in bloom.
You'll love taking a peaceful garden stroll.
The nature trails surround the park and wind through it, providing ample opportunity to get some exercise while taking it all in.
This is definitely the top spot for locals to take walks.
Other park amenities include tennis courts, a dog park, and plenty of places to have a picnic...
...oh, and this award-winning playground.
Needless to say, a trip to this park is quite a treat for young children.
Ritter Park has won numerous local awards. And in 2012, it was named as one of the 10 Great Public Spaces by the American Planning Association.
The association singled out Ritter Park for its design, amenities, and its integration into a national historic district. Pretty impressive!
