If you are a West Virginian, you have probably gone on a hike at least once. You find a trail and get lost in the dense woods around you. This hike is a little different - you will still follow a trail in the woods, except that the trail beneath your feet is not solid ground.
The Cheat River Water Trail offers something different than your typical hike. You can rest you feet on this one, because this is a trail for kayaks and canoes.
The trail has nine different access points along the Cheat River for a variety of different experiences along the Cheat's 40 mile span.
This is not like white water rafting, though. The waters of the trail are calm and the setting serene - truly like a hike, except on water.
The calm waters of the river make it a good activity for beginners, and therefore a great adventure for the whole family.
Along the way, you can enjoy the ecology of the area and experience several wildlife encounters. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the typical natural surroundings of West Virginia in a non-typical way.
