While many roadside attractions are located right on major thoroughfares, this quirky attraction in West Virginia is more off the beaten path. Check it out!
The Farnham Fantasy Farm is located on the property of George and Pam Farnham.
This project began when Pam found a 25-foot-tall, fiberglass Midas Muffler Man for sale on the cheap. She purchased it for George and a gift, and the rest is history.
The couple started looking for other large fiberglass. They found a giant "Beach boy" and put him in their yard, too. What had started as one cool, kitschy gift, turned into a passionate hobby.
The Big John Bag Boy was added, then the Uniroyal Girl.
The Farnhams continue to add to their collection. Here's Paul Bunyan.
Other pieces come from kiddie parks and amusement parks.
Local artist Michelle Sommers has worked with the Farnhams to restore some of the statues. Here, you can see her improvements to Big John.
This seahorse (one of a matching pair) was sun bleached and drab, with chipped paint.
Michelle turned the pair into a vibrant set that delights visitors with its rich hues.
In addition to the initial restoration, Michelle keeps the statues in tip-top shape with periodic coats of paint.
She uses a cherry picker to reach high enough!
