Shepherd's Whey Creamery is a family farm in Martinsburg that makes artisan cheese from the milk of their herd of goats.
The goats roam happily in the grass here, making milk to be turned into cheese.
The cheese is formed into wheels, and set to age in a cave-like controlled environment.
Shepherd's Whey Creamery makes several different varieties of cheese.
You'll find Chevre, Feta, Camembert, Queso Fresco, and various unusual aged cheeses.
You can buy the cheese right on the farm, and maybe even get a chance to help feed the baby goats!
If you can't make it to the farm, Shepherd's Whey Creamery also sells their cheese at local farmer's markets.
You can also get a taste of it at several local restaurants, like the Bavarian Inn.
