You can practically drive right up to Brush Creek Falls which are located just a mere quarter-mile from the designated roadside parking area.
Brush Creek Preserve is a 124-acre hidden gem concealing a majestic waterfall just out of plain sight. The preserve is located just a short jaunt off of Interstate 77 on Brush Creek Falls Road in Athens.
The roadside parking area has a picnic pavilion so bring lunch if you plan to stay awhile. Otherwise, you'll want to hit the short trail and seek out the main attraction.
The hike to Brush Creek Falls is just a 1/4 mile and the trail is pretty easy to navigate. You do have the option of continuing on past the falls to see another waterfall if you want to extend your trip.
Your first peek at the beautiful falls will be from the top giving you an overlook of the rushing cascades. But you'll definitely want to walk down to the base to take in the full effect of the scenery.
Brush Creek is around 50 feet wide depending on waterflow and the water drops 25 feet into a pool below. No matter what time of year, these falls are absolutely captivating.
After a heavy rain, the water really gets churning and the falls swell to epic proportions.
But even when the water flow is at its lowest, the falls still retain that storybook quality. The next time you're looking to chase a waterfall without expending much effort, head to Brush Creek Falls to discover the hidden gem that's just a hop, skip and a jump from the road.
