There are always a few things to do at a typical state park, but this park near Barboursville gives you the full range of options.
Beech Fork Lake State Park, located near Huntington, offers so much to do, you probably won't find the time to do everything.
To begin with, the park has eight different trails winding through lush woods and over the hills.
Aside from the trails, the park also has a beach with a large swimming area, geocaching, a recreation area with a swimming pool and splash playground, biking, and of course, camping. The camp grounds have tent sites, lodges and even an RV area.
A trip to the marina will allow you to go boating, either with a canoe, kayak or rowboat. You can also go fishing in a fully stocked lake. In fact, the lake is sometimes so full that when you cross the short bridge to the floating marina office, there will so many fish swimming around that the water is in constant movement. If anyone attempts to feed them, as kids sometimes do, it will incite a frenzy.
To further your enjoyment at the park, you can also play golf and go hunting.There is a full host of options at Beech Fork to keep anyone occupied, from small children who love to play to senior citizens who love a place to relax and a good fire.
