There's no denying that we've been living through some strange times. But as we prepare to welcome another beautiful Pacific Northwest summer, we can't help but be thankful for how far we've come. This year, spend our sunniest season exploring Washington -- especially the beach. We're lucky to live in a coastal state, and summers are meant to be spent by the sea.
1. Pacific Beach State Park
Pacific Beach State Park spans 17 acres and offers over 2,300 feet of shoreline. The beach is located in Grays Harbor County, and it's a spectacular place to spend a day.
2. Seabrook Beach
Seabrook is an idyllic coastal community colonial-style homes sitting high above the sea. The local beach is a few steps away from town, and it's fantastic.
3. Ruby Beach
Are you heading to the Olympic Peninsula this summer? All the beaches there are lovely, but there's something almost otherworldly about Ruby Beach. Don't miss it.
4. Fort Worden Beach
Located in Port Townsend, Fort Worden Beach is part of Fort Worden Historical State Park, a United States Army Coast Artillery Corps base. While those days are long over, you can still visit the park (and its two miles of sandy beach) to learn about local history.
5. Double Bluff Beach
If your summer plans include Whidbey Island, you'll definitely want to find this beach. Located in Freeland, it's considered to be the best beach on the southern end of the island -- and not only because it's the only off-leash, dog-friendly beach in the area.
6. Ocean Shores
Ocean Shores is a quiet coastal community, but it also has a lot to offer. Search for sand dollars, fly kites, and take in these stunning summer sunsets.
7. Long Beach
Long Beach is one of the most popular coastal destinations in Washington. While this is far from a hidden gem, it's also a place that can use our support this year -- plus, the beach stretches for miles and miles.
Which of these beaches will you visit first?
