The state of Washington has more than 100 named waterfalls, and we're certain there are many more hiding in our lush green forests and valleys. Some of our cascades require lengthy hikes to reach, while others are practically right in the middle of town.
When it comes to waterfalls that are easily accessible, nothing tops the iconic Snoqualmie Falls. Located mere minutes from I-90, this gem is always worth stopping to see.
Snoqualmie Falls flows over the Snoqualmie River between the towns of Fall City and Snoqualmie.
This photo has become one of the most iconic scenes in Washington, and this is one of the most famous falls in the Pacific Northwest.
We're not kidding when we say finding this beauty is a breeze.
Simply take Exit 25 from I-90 and take Snoqulamie Parkway until you reach the parking lot.
You'll pass through a small part of a beautiful forest to reach the overlook for the falls.
But it's so close, you'll hear the sounds of the water as soon as you step out of your vehicle.
Snoqualmie Falls stands at 286 feet, which is just over 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls.
Palouse Falls is the official state waterfall of Washington, but this one is the most commonly recognized by locals and out-of-staters alike. It's even known internationally thanks to its appearances on the TV series Twin Peaks.
For even better, more up-close-and-personal views of the falls, you're always welcome to hike the 1.4-mile Snoqualmie Falls Trail.
It leaves right from the park, it's an easy hike, and it's both dog and family-friendly.
But the best part about this waterfall is that you don't have to hike to see it.
If you're in a hurry, on a road trip, or simply too busy to spend a lot of time chasing waterfalls, you can still stop and experience its splendor.
Snoqualmie Falls is an incredible natural wonder, and we're lucky to have it here in Washington.
For the Snoqualmie People, who have called this area home for centuries, this waterfall is a sacred part of their culture, beliefs, and spirituality. When you visit, please remember to be respectful and leave no trace behind. We can work together to keep this sacred space pristine.
Have you visited Snoqualmie Falls lately? If you can, make a weekend of it and spend some time at the gorgeous adjacent Salish Lodge and Spa.
